gRegina details my experiences as I converted from a lifelong Albertan to a newbie Saskie. This was the focus of the previous iteration of this blog, but it received so many views that I brought the content with me to the new format.

Although I don’t ever see myself as truly being a Saskie, I feel that now is the time to admit that I no longer feel like a visitor. Life has regained a certain sense of normalcy and I am no longer surprised by things that occur here. So with that it is time to retire the gRegina thread. It’s been fun to write about and I’m sure there are things that will come up that will be somewhat alien to me. I knew from the instant I woke up that the day was going to be filled with insanity. I figured I was at least as handy as some of those people on “Flip This House” and they managed to survive it, so how bad can it be? I began my plight shortly after taking possession of my condo. I carefully (maybe careful isn’t the right word) removed the stunning pink rubber baseboards. I had many ideas for crazy uses, but never came up with one that seemed exciting enough for me to bother attempting it – I’ll admit the slingshot idea had its merits. Next I removed the equally stunning pink carpet that had been stained various colors over the nearly three decades it lay on that floor. I can’t imagine how many beverages were spilled during that time frame in an apartment across from the university – among other things that may have “spilled” onto the floor. Take that comment wherever you like, I’m sure whatever you’re thinking about was probably “spilled” there at one point or another. I probably should have worn gloves, but I’m male and being sensible isn’t always one of my strengths. |
